Immigrants are vital to Britain's economy

David Cameron's comments about immigration being a "constant drain" on public services last week were too simplistic, and incredibly disheartening.

This country has thrived because of immigrants. They bring vitality and new blood into this country and always have.

When we place artificial barriers on the brightest and best who want to come here, study, set up businesses and contribute we damage our own economy.

Economic migration is a fact in this global economy and has been  beneficial to the UK.

Political parties play political football with immigration and court prejudice and fear. It is a shame that such an important complex issue is treated in such a simplistic fashion.
