I've teamed up with a group of business people to tackle disadvantages faced by children in a disadvantaged estate in Leicester and a former coalmining town northwest of the city.
We’re joining forces with charities, councils and
residents to launch schemes that include keeping teenagers motivated to stay in
school, helping excluded young people become community leaders and one-to-one
mentoring.
Working
with community groups that already in the heart of their communities is great
because they’re best placed to know how to reach local people.
Having
the opportunity to work on problem solving with other businesses is very
enjoyable. We’re all committed to investing time, ideas and donations to
kick-start this exciting new project. I'm convinced that using private, public
and charitable expertise to solve local issues is the way forward.
Supporting
local children and young people now will help Leicestershire to prosper in
future.
